3 May 2006: 'Priceless' workshop at Serpentine Gallery

We attended a free artist-led workshop at the Serpentine Gallery and took part in an exciting large-scale art project.

'Priceless' workshop: Wednesday 3 May
10.30am - 1.30pm or 2.30 - 5.30pm
Serpentine Gallery, Kensington Gardens, London W2 3XA

Refreshments were provided during workshop sessions.

Each year the Serpentine Gallery commissions an architect to design and create a pavilion in Kensington Gardens. The 2006 Pavilion was designed by Rem Koolhaas and Cecil Balmond, with ARUP.

'Priceless' was an Exhibition Road Cultural Group Project artistically directed by MotiRoti and led by the Serpentine Gallery in collaboration with City of Westminster, English National Ballet, Goethe-Institut London, Imperial College, Natural History Museum, Platform for Art, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Royal College of Art, Royal College of Music, Royal Geographical Society, Science Museum, Serpentine Gallery, The Royal Parks/Kensington Gardens, V&A.

What does architecture mean to you?
Is there a building or place that is important to you? If you could have the Pavilion for a day, what type of event would you create?

One idea from the day was selected by Rem Koolhass, architect, Directors of the Serpentine Gallery and MotiRoti to be realised in the Pavilion. Through discussion, the workshop explored people’s experiences of buildings, spaces and architecture. Their responses were videoed and recorded during the workshop, which was shown at the Serpentine Gallery and as part of a public event on Exhibition Road, South Kensington on 11 August 2006.

Take a look at some of the artwork we produced on the day!

Find out about the multimedia exhibition in August, where our work was used as part of video projections both at the Serpentine Gallery and on the exterior walls of the Science Museum on Exhibition Road.
